Little Explorers began in 2011, promoting sensory play for babies in Hackney, London. Classes were an immediate hit, see our wonderful reviews in the ‘Testimonials’ tab!
With sensory play being just as much fun for the grownups too, the impact our classes have on the confidence and skills of carers has been profound. Little Explorers is not just a weekly class of sensory fun but a whole package of play ideas, to inspire you even more!
Every week is carefully thought out, with a different theme using different textures, tastes and smells for the little ones to explore.Camilla and Oscar
Little Explorers Sensory has been my dream job: all the bits I loved about my 6 years in Early Years teaching but even bigger, more creative and more fun!
As a new mum, I met so many carers who wanted to play with their babies, particularly as they knew how beneficial it was for development, they just didn’t know where to begin. That’s when Little Explorers was born. What I love most is hearing about how our classes have changed the way people play with babies at home.
As well as being a mum to my two mini superheros, Albert and Arthur, I am currently studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills, with leading accredited trainers, Play Therapy UK. www.playtherapy.org.uk in order to bring about our exciting new ideas for the future!
Claire brings 15 years’ experience in commercial to the Little Explorers team. She is financially qualified, an accredited civil and commercial mediator, and a non-practising Barrister, in addition to being a Royal Society fellow. Claire is passionate about making a positive impact to society which her role in third sector work brings. She is also mum to two young daughters Alexia and Eva (Claire met Emma when she brought her 8 week old daughter Alexia, to the Hackney classes!) Following an early and difficult birth, Claire learnt various skills to engage in play and stimulate Alexia’s senses and found the techniques a great support. She loved it so much that she joined the team!
Hello and a very big welcome to you and your VIB (Very important Baby or Babies!). Like Emma, I am a qualified Early Years teacher, with seven wonderful years of teaching to look back on fondly. But with the birth of my first son Oliver I have opted for a slight career change and jumped on board with Little Explorers! I love to engage with other parents and meet their little ones so to be able to do this in a creative and supportive role is just perfect for me! I look forward to being a part of your lifelong journey of play and discovery!
